Are you good at Listening? Yes, you have to be alert and quick for healthy communication. In simple terms, Listening is what we pay attention to understanding. On the other hand, Hearing happens casually and we don’t hear attentively. Hearing is an ability that we possess since birth. On the contrary, Listening is a skill that we have to develop over time, sometimes life is short to learn Listening vs Hearing. Let’s learn Listening Vs. Hearing: With Comparison

Some Legends say, “Hearing through Ears & Listening through Mind”. Although Listening and Hearing are the same for many, both have a vital difference. So let’s go over some key differences between Listening Vs. Hearing: With Comparison Skills.

Especially in India, the term of Effective conversation is a clear and ample word but that is not the case. An effective conversation starts with a better understanding of the speaker’s intentions and being present in the conversation.

When communication gets messy? While I am explaining and someone is not listening. I re-explain, again, and no matter how many times I repeat, and eventually, I feel like breaking my head against the wall. Subsequently, I know that person is hearing me but not listening to what I am saying.

Have You Ever Felt That Way?

First of all, What we need to understand is, Listening is different from hearing, and the communication gap is caused by improper listening.

From Shining to going to Bed we HEAR many sounds but we listen to certain sounds with attention. Hearing is just simpler and easier than Listening, Moreover, Hearing is involuntary and happens just all the time and all day long, and no special or conscious efforts required. As being one of the five senses, hearing happens as we receive vibrations and weaves through ears.

On the other hand, Listening is an active process. While listening we use the brain and touch to understand what we hear. Being a listener, you hear what you wish to hear and understand the message or information through mind and body. For being a good listener we have to practice pretty hard and conscious efforts are required.
